Local Artists’ Exhibit 5:00 pm, Concert at 7:00 pm

In jazz, the sound of three horns in harmony is not a new one, but Paul Keller’s arrangements and presentation offer the listener a fresh perspective on a traditional combination. The Paul Keller Ensemble (PKE) is a three horn jazz septet consisting of trumpet, trombone, saxophone, piano, bass, drums and vocalist Susan Chastain. The hallmark of this group is sterling improvised jazz solos, however, their repertoire is vast and varied, consisting of familiar American standards such as Gershwin, Berlin, Porter, and Joplin to more adventurous fare in the style of Art Blakey and the Jazz Messengers. This concert will feature many of these favorites as well as Keller’s original composition Michigan Jazz Suite inspired by beautiful places and people of Michigan including Sleeping Bear, Big Mac, Eastside Sunrise and A Tribute To Ernie Harwell. Don’t miss this very special jazz concert!
Come early to picnic near the 8-acre lake or stroll around and view local artists’ work which will be for sale starting at 5 pm.
