Introduction to Beekeeping – Four program dates
Introduction to Beekeeping is a great way to learn how about honeybees, how to keep them, and their importance to our food chain. Meeting once a month on the 2nd Sat from 1 PM to 2PM. May 13, June 10, July 8, and August 12 from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM. Class taught by your local beekeeper Preston Zale who began his hobby of beekeeping just by helping another local beekeeper. Preston found the whole process so interesting that the following year he started one hive of his own. This year he is managing 15 hives for friends, family, and his own apiary, Popz Beez. Come to one or come to all! We will cover the basics of bees and bee health, beehives and maintenance, and of course, harvesting honey. Our meetings will be held inside the Hen House with optional trips to visit the hives in the park. Class is free and registration is required.
