ACCESSIBILITY WORKSHOP FOR BRIDGE 33.7 ON THE PAINT CREEK TRAIL

The Paint Creek Trailways Commission and Oakland Township Parks and Recreation are presenting an Accessibility Workshop to receive public comments and input from disabled individuals and disability advocates on a Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant application for the Renovation of Paint Creek Trail Bridge 33.7 in Oakland Township.  The project site is located on the Paint Creek Trail between Silver Bell ...Road and Dutton Road. The purpose of the workshop is to receive comments and suggestions regarding accessibility for individuals with disabilities.

The Accessibility Workshop will be held Wednesday, August 24, 2016 from 6:30-8:30 pm at the Oakland Township Hall, 4393 Collins Road, Rochester, Michigan, 48306. Project engineers will be present to discuss the project and answer any questions regarding the design as it pertains to accessibility.  “We would love to have participation and input from disability advocates from all areas, to ensure our project will be appropriate and accessible for everyone,” said Trail Manager Kristen Myers.  The bridge will be maintained by Oakland Township Parks and Recreation. “This project is important for the continued, uninterrupted access for the Paint Creek Trail. The current bridge has structural issues, and we would like to make sure the new bridge is safe and accessible for all,” said Oakland Township Parks and Recreation Director Mindy Milos-Dale.

Copies of the draft grant application with details of the proposed bridge renovation are available for public inspection on the Paint Creek Trail website at http://paintcreektrail.org/wordpress/mnrtf-grant-application, Oakland Township website at www.oaklandtownship.org, at the Parks and Recreation Offices at the Paint Creek Cider Mill, 4480 Orion Road, Rochester, MI 48306 and at the Oakland Township Hall.
