Oakland Township Clean Scene 2023

Oakland Township Roads are Looking Great After 2013 Clean Scene

It was Oakland Township residents verses litter bugs as volunteers picked up trash from local roads on May 4th during the township’s Clean Scene. Clean Scene is the annual event that helps to clear the litter and debris that mars the appearance of local roads. Seventy-five residents donated their time and effort this year. Some of the 2013 volunteers have been cleaning the same roads for years, while others were new to the effort. All volunteers were greeted at township hall with donuts and coffee and other refreshments before they headed out to clean their assigned areas. Volunteers using their own vehicles collected the bagged trash and brought it to the compactor truck parked near Township Hall. After spending several hours outside on a lovely early spring day, the volunteers gathered at Oakland Township Hall for lunch and camaraderie. Refreshments were provided through the generous donations of Busch’s Market, the Paint Creek Cider Mill, Knapp’s Donuts, KNJ Subway in Rochester Hills, Subway Store #51139 in Oakland Township, Sam’s Club and Hollywood Market. Waste Management provided plastic collection bags and drinks for thirsty volunteers.  Trustee Maureen Thalmann and Township Executive Assistant Elaine Leven organized the event with event day coordination help from Election Specialist Gina Cipriani and Park and Recreation Commissioner Ann Marie Rogers. Many thanks to our volunteers and the local businesses that helped feed them!
