The Charter Township of Oakland Parks and Recreation Commission will hold public hearings to receive public comments on Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant application TF23-0084 and Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application LW23-0023 for the addition of access improvements at Stony Creek Ravine Nature Park in Section 25 of Oakland Township, located on the north side of Snell Road, east of Sheldon Road.

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING

The Charter Township of Oakland Parks and Recreation Commission will hold public hearings to receive public comments on Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund grant application TF23-0084 and Land and Water Conservation Fund grant application LW23-0023 for the addition of access improvements at Stony Creek Ravine Nature Park in Section 25 of Oakland Township, located on the north side of Snell Road, east of Sheldon Road. The 268-acre park is bordered on the south by Snell Road, on the east by the Oakland County boundary line, on the north where Knob Creek Drive ends and the Stony Creek runs through the park along its western edge.

The proposed access improvements include a parking lot, accessible limestone trails that connect to Stony Creek Metropark, a seating area overlooking Stony Creek, and trailhead facilities that will provide drinking water, restrooms, a picnic area, wayfinding signage, and interpretive signage.

The Public Hearings will be held Monday March 20, 2023 at 7:00 pm at the Oakland Township Hall, 4393 Collins Road, Rochester, Michigan, 48306.

Copies of both draft grant applications will be available for public inspection beginning March 19, 2023 on the Parks and Recreation home page of the Oakland Township website at http://www.oaklandtownship.org/boards and commissions/parks and recreation/index.php. Hard copies will be available for review at 10am March 20, 2023 at the Parks and Recreation Offices at the Paint Creek Cider Mill, 4480 Orion Road, Rochester, MI 48306 and at the Oakland Township Hall, 4393 Collins Road, Rochester, MI 48306.

Written comments can be emailed to parksplanning@oaklandtownship.org, mailed to “OT Parks 2023 Stony Creek Ravine Nature Park Access Improvements”, 4393 Collins Road, Rochester, MI 48306, or placed in the drive-up drop box located at the Oakland Township Hall, 4393 Collins Road, Rochester, MI 48306, until March 27, 2023.
