Oakland Township does not have its own library, however, it does have an elected Library Board of Trustees that administers a dedicated, voted millage for library services. The 1.000 mil is comprised of two millages, originally 0.8000 and 0.2000 which have been Headlee reduced to .6212. With this millage, the Library Board currently provides full library services for Oakland Township residents by contracting with the Rochester Hills Public Library. All residents of Oakland Township and all persons employed at an establishment located in the Township are eligible for a library card and full library services.
The Library Board is comprised of six residents of Oakland Township who are elected to 4 year terms (at the same time) in the General/Presidential election year. The office is NON-PARTISAN and members do not receive payment for service. Terms of the current members are effective through November, 2020.

Nonpartisan Township Position
The Township Library Board is Comprised of (6) residents who are elected to (4) year consecutive terms in the General election year, beginning at noon on November 20th after being elected.
This election is to fill a vacancy with a partial term expiring November 20, 2020.
Election Dates: Primary Election – August 7, 2018
General Election – November 6, 2018
The six part-time members are Nonpartisan and do not receive payment for service.
Candidate Qualifications: A candidate must be at least 18 years of age, a resident of the Township for at least 30 days, and a qualified elector of the Township. To appear on the ballot, petitions along with an Affidavit of Identity must be submitted to the Township Clerk’s.
Nonpartisan candidates must file their nominating petitions and Affidavit of Identity no later than 4:00 PM, on April 24, 2018. (168.349)
